George Robinson has spent lifetime researching men's grooming products - from the users's perspective. Here are some of his best words of wisdom:
After Shaves and Balms
1. Scents belong on the neck, chest and underarms, not on the face.
2. Don’t use alcohol based aftershaves or colognes on the face. Read the label to see the chemicals that you are applying. Your face is special and skin does not take kindly to toture.
3. Immediately after shaving there is always a bit of mild irritation. After all you have been cutting away tough beard and some times a bit a skin. The perfect mild astringent and toner is pure distilled natural witch-hazel. It even smells clean.
4. If you like the fragrance of a particular after shave lotion or balm, apply it to the neck and chest and wash your hand after application. People like the scent on you not on themselves, especially on their hands and for women on their faces.
In addition, women don’t smell faces and they don’t like cheek to cheek greetings with Boss or Ralph Lauren. Men’s fragrances are noticed by women first when applied to the chest and neck.
5. And don’t forget a good underarm deodorant. All the aftershave in the world won’t camouflage BO.
Travel Tips
2. Important things to bring (that are often forgotten) - Mosquito repellent - Skin crème with SPF 15 or 30 depending on the time of year. - Chap stick SPF 15 - Travel razor
6. Keep a travel kit bag packed and ready to go at all times. Most of the products recommended come in small plastic bottles and tubes.
7. The best travel kits easily hang on the back of a door or on a towel rail.
